from "stories of happy people" by gustafsson

"... and perhaps it isn't so important that everything should be important ... wasn't it true that all the power in the world was based on the same big lie: that the meaning of our lives is located outside of ourselves? ... why do we need the enigmatic in people to love them? ... the monster would rather die than give up his gold. rather die than show himself ... 'what does a lake turned into a bog reflect?' 'itself?' 'or a different sky' ... this leave-taking was, in spite of the continous fever of the wound, the most beautiful he experienced. so light and cheerful, and at the same time so serious and deep that he could still reacall its breathing. it was a vehement reminder that life is easy, that it consists of the purest lust, and that it only exists for those who are able to dance and to laugh."
